Ministry Training Strategy (MTS)
The Ministry Training Strategy (MTS) is a two-year, full-time apprenticeship in gospel ministry. The vision of MTS Ireland is to preach the gospel to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. In order to do this, we need to identify, equip, and deploy the next generation of gospel workers for Ireland and the nations. In 2Timothy 2:2, the apostle Paul exhorts Timothy, “and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” MTS takes this charge seriously. Our focus is to train men and women as faithful and competent Bible teachers who will serve Christ as pastors, evangelists, and church planters in Ireland and throughout the world.
An apprenticeship is a hands-on immersion into the life of Christian ministry. MTS aims to help apprentices grow in three primary areas: conviction, character, and competence. This is done through Bible study, prayer, and hands-on practical ministry. During their time, apprentices will learn ministry, develop new skills, identify their own strengths and weaknesses in ministry as they grow in godliness. Apprentices are trained by an experienced pastor in a broad spectrum of ministry activities. Whilst ICM encourages full-time MTS apprenticeship, there is also opportunity for it to be done on a part-time basis. The MTS apprenticeship in ICM is worked out in conjunction with Immanuel Church, Dublin. MTS apprentices receive a scholarship or grant from ICM.
