word based social action
In the North of Ireland ICM seeks to care for the marginalised and the disadvantaged in our communities.
ICM reaches out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the homeless, and to those suffering with various forms of addiction.
Homelessness
In Northern Ireland 16,426 people are presented as homeless. 50.1% of these people were classified and registered as homeless.
These persons became homeless as a result of breakdowns in family and community life. Domestic violence and family disputes account for the largest number of people becoming homeless.
No one chooses to become homeless and the path from having a home to living on the streets can at times be a rapid downhill spiral, which leads to self-destruction. The breakdown of any once meaningful relationship will have a negative effect on each person. Add to that the stress of not having a secure place to live, along with the temptation to seek escape from the pain, in the form of some addiction (be it alcohol or drugs both legal and illegal) and you have a pitiful and tragic situation.
Irish Church Missions offer helps, aiming to assist with finding accommodation, giving out clothes and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Help those with Addictions
We reach out to those with addiction problems. Some of them feel unwanted, unloved and useless in society.
We have a group that meets on a Tuesday night and Thursday afternoon to study God's Word. We seek to encourage all who continue to battle against addiction, because success is possible. Most have tried many times and failed.
We do not offer any magical solution, but teach proven ways of tackling problems, countering cravings and restoring stable lifestyles. We base our confidence in the almighty power of God to transform lives.
We are seeing encouraging changes in the attitudes and lifestyles of our members and believe our Biblical approach is proving successful.
| "Is not this the kind of fast I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free to break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter -when you see the naked clothe him, and turn away from your own flesh and blood? “ Isaiah 58:6-7 |
